It's been a few days since this troubled man but still great actor passed away. To me is important to note his death because, as I see it, he was a victim of his lifestyle, of being an artist...

Ghosts hunts us all, but it's only a reality -a terrible reality- for those who explore themselves to the point to seeking those ghost.

I don't know if he committed suicide and I think that's beyond the point now, the truth is he suffered from being so intense and "edgy" as too many people have described him. Here on this Blog, I've noted how his latest character, the Joker, let him to explore the personality and the vise of this character... guess life it's not to beautiful in that point of view. The shame is he didn't realized that this characters exist as the direct contrast of all the good things around.

The Dark Knight's sites have dedicated to him a space, where you can see here at the official movie site and here at the side page for conceptual publicity.

Life on mars... (???)

Two days ago, a London's newspaper published the image of what seems to be a humanoid "life form" on Mars. The pic was taken by Spirit, the surviving of the twins robots rolling on Mar's surface, a year ago. It was released in NASA's website and someone found this "formation" of rocks. And to me, that's what it seems to be, a simple formation, but I gotta admit that it certainly looks as a human.

Here are the images from where they zoomed to find it:

Even though this made front page in many newspapers and Internet websites, there's a whole history of "seeing" things in mars, beginning with the famous Cydonia 's face and pyramids. This "constructions" have been proved wrong, since new HD pics were taken and now we know that the face is nothing but a hill. As for the pyramids, I guess it might be the same, but NASA has not yet released any image of them...

This is the Region of Cydonia as seen by a 4D image processor.

Now, in between this two cases, there's another image from Spirit in which a "skull" seems to be set on the ground. Of course, we're facing the same problem. It might just be a rock shaped liked a skull... or then again, it might be not... hahaha... see the point?, we're just playing Rorschach with outer space images.

Another famous case, is the pic where they thought they'd found a living organism... which turned out to be a simple string of the nylon fabrics of the Spirit crash bags (remember they inflate bags to bounce in ground instead of landing...)

To conclude this little essay, I leave you two pics... One is an image from the Mar's orbiter, where we can cleary see a face on mars surface... further details, read this blog in upcoming days.
And the second image is just to prof that we see whatever we like, that we just arrange elements to fit with our consciousness.

This recent finding is a "most see"...

A child with several failures in her organs got transplants, but doctor thought she might reject the donation because of organic incompatibilities... the result, her blood type changed!!! in order to match the new organ's.
Obviously, this is HUGE!!! we're talking she defies everything science know about our organic composition. To be exact, her DNA intelligently changed to adapt. Metaphysics... serve yourselves.

The main discussion with Quantum Physics is "how does a Quantum (part wave, part particle... depending on the watcher) is able to "know" how must it act", specially, since it's been proved that Quantum are able to communicate among them at what me might call "real time", with no Light Speed limitations.

This subject lead to think that also our DNA is capable of communicate with it's parts and even with other's DNA. Scientific test had been conducted and they are sure it's a reality... but this 15 year old has make it obvious.

What should we think about this? Is she the first case of a "next step" evolution or simply a host of a degeneration that happened to save her life?

For some time now, there are people talking about "Indigo Kids" which they say posses a ability to heal themselves and even others... but they theories had never been proved.

Well, Australia has completed the first runway on the Antartica, the one continent that, so far, don't belong to anybody. An Airbus landed recently after two years of pre-work on the runway. So far, the missions there are sorely scientific, but we all know that it won't be long before it is reclaimed by several nations, just like America did just a bit more than 500 years ago.

In space in news, a few months ago, NASA spotted a meteor that they thought might crashed with Mars. Obviously, the whole world was expecting this... for we would've been able to see (almost is HD) the effects of such tremendous collision.
Unfortunately (for us, not for Mars... ) this meteor will not impact Mars, though it will pass quite near... the point to me here is that they don't know if it will pass 16,000 miles away or just 2,480. In space terms... That's huge! at least it would mean the difference between seeing (from Earth) a meteor passing too close or seeing our world bye bye.

Well, it's been a while since the last post... 2007 is over and now the brand new 2008 is starting. Not much difference actually.
The real (although merely irrelevant) change will be in 2009, when US will finally switch his TV broadcasting from analogue to digital.
Ever since the invention of TV, transmitting airwaves it's been the main broadcasting signal, but the first great scale switch came with color TV. Even with cable and digital television around, air waves are the "basic" for all TV's.

As for February 2008, every American will need a converting device if their TV does not support digital TV, that's why their "great government" (always worried about their "fellow Americans" best interests) will give away 40 dollars coupons to help those who'll need the converter and can't afford it. Obviously, those selling the devices are quite happy with this issue.

But well, pushing away politics, this change will surely pass to history, for making the world's "must powerful" nation switch fully digital will surely echo to the rest of the world.

Tuvimos el agrado de asistir al evento masivo que organizó el gobierno del DF para día de muertos en el zócalo. La neta estuvo bastante chido el asunto. Prácticamente todas las dependencias del gobierno pusieron su ofrenda y dos que tres colectivos le entraron a hacer figuras gigantes, entre las cuales estaban Frida y Diego y El Santo y Blue Demon.

Atascado, como era de esperarse, y con un sol pesadísimo... pero estuvo muy chido.

Nomás pa que noten la escala de las "figuritas"...

Talking about cultural differences, here's what happens when an icon crosses a sea. The Ninja Turtles where created as a parody of Frank Miller's comics in the 80's and as a punk-surf critic ideal. This radical movements that drove USA to the edge in the 80's was way far from the early 90's Japan, that was working hard to be the nation it is today.

There, the Ninja Turtles are sort of the mighty pets of Sailor Moon :P and followed the popular scheme that has worked for decades in Japan. Transformation, mechas, merging powers... turning it all Japanese... even the turtles physic changes and turn into a totally Asiatic look.

Bueno... como ya la mayoría ha de saber, el pasado 31 de agosto me eche un santo clavado en un parque ahí por insurgentes. Dado que en la caída mis manos no tuvieron nada que ver... el resultado fue la mitad de mi cara golpeada y raspada y tres semanas de incapacidad.

Como esto fue un viernes a la hora de la comida, se encontraban conmigo mis cuates de sistemas y Klaus tuvo a bien grabar nuestras estupideces y por tanto, la caída... y ahora, gracias a la magia de YouTube, les presento la grabación del madrazo... jajaja

Queden advertidos, (en especial si son familiares mios propensos a impresionarse fácilmente.. jejeje) que el madrazo se ve un poco aparatoso e impresiona un poco... jajajajaja

NASA has discovered seven big caves over Mars surface. They are by the tallest mountain in the whole planet and they might be huge. As in Earth, caves do preserve heat in the cold nights of mars and keep from the extreme heat/radiation that the unprotected atmosphere of mars present during day time. This kind of caves might have had, or still might have, living organism.

But NASA scientist discard this seven caves, nicknamed "Seven Sisters", for they are too high and (I quote) "Live can't be supported at that high". Of course caves would seem like a familiar spot for the first people on mars, and of course a cave at that high might be not useful, but as for Martian life... why not???

Live have show us that it can hang on anywhere, even when we thought seas where too deep or volcanoes too hot, it has managed to go on. Interesting and almost philosophical issue... Here's the note.

This might be, if proved right, the solution to long term Global Warming and it is also a great breakthrough as far a alternative technologies, for a couple of years ago, this discovery would've been kept by the big oil companies.

Let's just remember that the first fuel for machines was water, as vapor. And it really worked. The main issue was the need for wood or carbon to ignite and vaporize water. This problem is now solved by radio frequency wich only needs a thind electric impulse to work.

Hopefully, this will be the discovery that will change our way of life.

Flying Cars

The name is Moller's Skycar M400, and it may pass to history as the first flying car ever sold. It was build by Paul Moller and it's the first vehicle that will really be of personal use and that can actually make a change in the way we live, sort of like the change from horses to cars.

The M400 is build by hi tech materials and is equipt with a GPS that does the navigation easier. Also, it comes along with a parachute and a huge airbag that would deploy from below the craft in case of a crash. Although the idea is quite old -Ford predicted it...- having the necessary infrastructure for this kind of transportation is the hard part.

That's why, NASA (probably in an attempt to be usefull to it's nation again) has declared that they own the technology to trace sky lines in order to create sky highways... like in Blade Runner....

It is said that this car has actually achieved 600 mph... but on this video we can barely see it take off. I leave it to you... but the fact is that in a short while makind's way of living may change just as it did more than 100 years ago with Henry Ford.

En el Piraña

Nos lanzamos al Bar Piraña, que está en Albaro Obregon, en la Roma. Después de tres bandas ma o menos... pero pa cerrar, escuchamos a dos muy buenas bandas: La primera se llama Larva, quienes tocan Death/Trash Metal bastante conceptual con una excelente propuesta en el escenario. El vocal resultó ser un chavo que se veía extremadamente tranquilo... pero ya en escena, sus facciones y comportamiento se transformaban... y las dos chicas de la guitarra y el bajo realmente se discutían con la fuerza de su música y pues del bataco ni se diga... creo que el nunca descanso.
Después entró a escena Cubiky, una banda de Los Angeles que se discute muy chido en rock un tanto funk / progresivo (por extraño que parezca). De ellos, el bataco es el que se llevó la noche, demostrnado que no solo sabía pegarle duro a los tambores, sino que realmente es un músico estudiado.

La historia del joven Cristian Mitre

Todos sabemos que la ciudad de México es peligrosa, pero esta historia es realmente aterradora. Como todo buen reportaje profesional, está narración está documentada fotográficamente. Algunas de las imágenes pueden ser perturbadoras...

El día 22 de agosto del 2007, el joven Cristian Mitre se encontraba laborando felizmente como cualquier otro día.
Cerca de las 3 de la tarde, Cristian recibió una llamada anónima, donde fue advertido de que por no haber participado en una de las cadenas de correo electrónico de Gisela, tendría 7 años años de mala suerte, problemas intestinales y perdida de memoria permanente... a parte de que algo malo le sucedería muy pronto.

Alrededor de las 3 con dos minutos y 38 segundos, el joven Cristian fue atacado por un comando armado.

Poco después de haber sido golpeado, pateado y vi... olentado, el joven Cristian fue secuestrado por otro de los integrantes del grupo armado.

No se supo nada de el hasta 10 minutos después, cuando un experto grupo de forenses encontró los restos del joven escondidos en cajas de pizza y botes de refresco. La osamenta fue encontrada en las cercanías, sobre una computadora. (Las siguientes imágenes pueden ser un poco agresivas a la vista, en especial la del forense en bata... están advertidos)

I told Mariana something like: "This is our Sun and Earth (next slide) ...and this is our Sun compared with another suns all around the Galaxy..."

My mom, having heard this, was like: "No way!!!... There are more than one sun?!!!"

Obviously, Mariana and I were totally astonished... My mom, a 25 years teacher, doesn't know that stars are other planetary systems suns... even my 7 year old daughter knows it... but my mom didn't.

Now, I'm not writing this to make fun of my mom. At all. I'm writing this because she, at her 51 years old, didn't know this. I asked her what did she think that stars were, and she simply replied: "I've never thought about it"

The lesson my mom taught me tonight is that there are a million things that I don't know because I've never wonder about them, because I simply take 'em for granted.

I explained both my mom and Mariana about the different sizes and ages of stars and now they both now a bit more about it. Now I'm happy because I know that my mom will look up to the sky next time and wonder about far away suns... night will never be the same for her from tonight on. That's the first step in learning: To find out that we ignore something.

Rapido: Ayer estaba viendo un documental sobre la vida Stephen Hawking, en donde se da a entender que él no es mas que un fenómeno mediático que no cuenta con un respaldo verdadero entre la comunidad científica mundial. Principalmente, debido a que dentro de su teoria sobre lo que sucede "después" de un agujero negro, donde él postula que la información no se pierde, pero el tiempo y la materia si.

Enseguida salió un frupo de científicos y "compobaron" que eso era mentira, que la materia solamente llegaba a otro lado. La principal confrontación era saber que pasaba con un agujero negro después de que hubiese tragado todo lo que está a su alrededor. Hawking postulaba que al morir el agujero, todo lo que el se llevaba se perdía, siendo totalmente contrario al postulado clásico de que "la matería no se crea ni se destruye, solo se transforma".

Actualmente, la teoria cuántica moderna le esta dando al traste a ambas posturas, ya que se cree que si una persona "cayera" en un agujero negro, para el "expectador" (figura sumamente importante en la física cuántica) esa otra persona se despedazaría en atomos, pero para la persona que estpa cayendo, absolutamente nada sucedería, el seguiría "existiendo" ya que la información (ya diganlo... el alma) que lo compone no se ve afectada por ls fuerzas del agujero.

Ahora, la NASA ha descubierto que la fuerza y el alcance de un agujero negro es proporcional a la carga de materia que está atrayendo. Esto quiere decir, que en un final, el hoyo negro ya no tendrá que tragar, posiblemente al haber consumido a todo el universo, y se detendrá. Muy posiblemente este sea el principio de la Entropía (proceso contrario a la expansión del universo).

Lo curioso, es que parece que al final de cuentas, la teoria de Hawking no estaba tan errada...

You can't imagine my surprise when i got to work and found out this (it's really amazing... so please have a seat): Michelle sent an E-mail!!!! that really gotta be something!!!! (luv u :P)... plus, the E-Mail had a simple link to one of the coolest thing I've ever seen... the first receptionist robot.

It's called Wakamaru (Shit... should I'd written "he's called..."?, here we go Asimov, here we go...) and it's a semi independant android that can recognize faces, schedules and more important, has the ability to encourage conversation with him. He can identify his position in a certain room by looking up to the ceiling and when "he" feels his energy is running out, he saves some to return to his docking station and reload. He has a continous internet connection and he can send you e-mail and notifications, specially when he is left alone at home and he senses motion around him.

Though Wakamaru (named after a samurai because of his "growt" concept and the eyebrows) isn't even close to any Asimov's AI robots, he is a realistic robot with a defined porpuse. And he should really work, for Mitsubishi (the developer) is planning to use them as receptionist. The main line about Wakamaru is that he not only serves, but he developes a personallity based on his owner's self personallity and schedule. And that is the breakthough, not only assambling pieces, but to have give them the possibility to addapt to it's enviroment.

A strange symbol found on a NYC's old building

Well, it certainly is weird to find mysteries on "new" world features. I mean, if a pyramid holds a secret symbol, that's ok... if Dan Brown sells books like maniac using old medieval symbols, that ok....... (well, maybe not that well.....)..... but finding a symbol on a building in NYC is just weird.

As you can see, it really simple. And for me there are just two possible meaning. One: The architect / owner / builder was into some religion and really wanted the building to stand for years holding the symbol. Or... they simply wanted to "draw" something funny on a wall.

Is that unbeliveable? Look around us: we have toys, we pin our walls with posters, we even paint our wall with no apparent reason. Why must everything have a meaning??? (weird thing to hear coming from a designer isn't it?) Perhaps olg egypticians simply liked the triangles... maybe they've had just discovered how to use it and so they decided to practice it on a pyramid... just as we do with hi-tech building that really don't need to be that high, that big, flying over a cayon or with that awesome looking twist in the main body.... we just build them 'cause we want. Cause we feel like it, cause it shows everybody that we can do it.

It'll be far more fun if in a few days somebody says: "Haha, I found the meaning of it!!!"... and surely Dan Brown will already be finishing another useless best seller... but thinking of a simply truth has always brought more results than trying to find the "unknow"....

There's no doubt that every single chinesse live by tha code their country has dictated for centuries. Pround, Strong... Stubborn.

As they are hosting the 2008' s Olympics, they not only want to look like a new world lider, but want to show the world their displeasure with nature. China is the greater oppositor of a Anti-Global Warming Plan... and now, for the opening and closeur of the Olympics, they plan to prevent from raining. Simple no?

As they can see in the future (suckers) they know that on both days it's gonna rain heavily in the area, so they'll fire a couple of missiles that will clear the sky from clouds... even though they already have one of the most polluted cities in the world, Beijing, where the games will be hosted.

They just don't get that messing with nature has take us to where we are!!!

I guess their insect-like life has made them believe that after world's end there'll be only cockroaches and chinesse... (i know, i know) I really don't have anything against any specific chinesse... it's just that they pollicies and easy-going laws and applications will really mess it all. If they were (as a country... not as individuals) a tiny country, such a pollicies would really mean a little harm to our world... but they are the single largest country in the world!!!... where the concentration of population is way far from any other country!!!.... where if every single chinesse would toss a single piece of garbage in the street one day, would pollute more than most of the european countries in a week...

PS. I love China... their cultural history, their achievements... but as funny as it may sound.... PLEASE!!!... open you eyes!!!

Brasil, otro avión, otras 200 vidas perdidas.

Un vuelo nacional de Brasil chocó ayer en el aeropuerto de Sao Paulo al intentar aterrizar en una pista mojada. El piloto notó que ya no podía frenar el avión e intentó elevarlo de nuevo.

El avión se salió de la pista, del aeropuerto y fue a dar a una calle bastante transitada y finalmente a una gasolinera y un almacen. 186 personas iban en el vuelo... mas las personas que tuvieron la mala fortuna de pasar por ahí en ese instante. Tres personas de la calle fueron llevadas al hospital y fallecieron (las tres) unas horas mas tarde.

El incendio duró varias horas y no hay ninguna esperanza de encontrar a alguien mas con vida.

Como es de esperarse, el aeropuero cerró los vuelos durante varias horas y un después de reabrir los vuelos, muchos pasajeros se reusaron a abordar.
Lo triste, es que este es el segundo avionazo en menos de un año en esa ciudad de Brasil. 155 personas murieron al chocar un avion comercial y un jet privado hace un par de meses.

A estas horas, los equipos de rescate se han convertido en levanta escombros y las victimas son puestas en congeladores para posterior examen forense... examen que buscará encontrar la identidad de las victimas por medio de sus dientes y joyas que pudieran haber llevado puestas.

Comunmente ante este tipo de accidentes, mi postura es simple... "vuelas, te puedes morir"... pero en este caso, la pista donde intentó aterrizar el avión estaba recien "rehabilitada" y muchas informes de hace un par de dias aseguraban que la pista no estaba en condiciones de recibir aviones bajo lluvia... obvio, el pavimento aun no se había acentado del todo y la lluvia producía que se enlodara... pinche política... pinche economía... el permitir una docena de vuelos mas al día nos acaba de costar 200 vidas inocentes.

... realmente me siento mal.......... de imaginar.... de ponerme en su lugar..... en el lugar de sus familias.... en el lugar de un ciudadano de Sao Paulo que no podrá dormir tranquilo sabiendo que su pinche gobierno prefiere un par de dolares mas a la vida de cualquiera de los que ahí habita...

Como bien saben, he estudiado ampliamente la cultura maya lo cual me ha llevado inevitablemente a estudiar a las demás culturas mesoamericanas. Entre ellas, Tenochtitlan capital del imperio azteca.
Entre tanto mistisismo y ocultismo que este tema conlleva, llegué a estudiar a Tesla (tema para otro ensayo) lo que me llevó a Atlantis.

Todo lo que se diga sobre esta civilización perdida nunca estará a la altura de lo que el misterio por si mismo encierra, pero aun así nos ha facinado por milenios. Entre otras cosas, ha alimentado la imaginación de miles de artistas, quienes basandoce en los dialogos de Platón han ilustrado con lujo de detalle la supuesta ciudad de Atlantis (ó Poseida). Y fué una de estas ilusstraciones la que me llevó a conjeturar un poco mas de lo normal sobre el tema.

La primer ilustración corresponde a una apreciación artística de Atlantis según Platón, la segunda a una apreciación del mismo estilo de Tenochtitlan según fuentes españolas y en la última, un mapa de la época de la colonia. En todas ellas vemos lo mismo: Un conjunto de palacios amurallados en el epicentro y varios circulos de construcciones alrededor. Toda la ciudad se encuentra rodeada por agua de un lago y para entrar es necesario el uso de canoas o puentes. El problema es que Tenochtitlan si existió.

Estas similitudes puedan parecer circunstanciales, pero explorando mas los textos de Platón, él narra que la Atlantis estaba rodeada por agua, que la ciudad era una fortaleza y que estaba pintada de cuatro colores característicos según el uso ó la ubicación del edificio... y esa precisamente tambien era una costumbre mesoamericana. Cada punto cardinal tenía un color distintivo y las ciudades eran pintadas en su totalidad en estos colores.
La principal oposición es que Tenochtitlan se fundó milenios después de la supuesta desaparición de Atlantis, pero recordemos que Teotihuacán es una ciudad milenaria de la cual no sabemos nada y que se ha demostrado que también estaba pintada de colores en su época dorada.

Con esto no quiero decir que Platón haya viajado a América (además de la América del futuro) y visto Tenochtitlan y la haya nombrado Poseida... por la cantidad de agua alrededor) pero esa construcción atlante bien pudo haber sido reutilizada ó reinterpretada por arquitectos mexicas varios siglos después.

Este tipo de teorias son ampliamente aceptadas, ya que hay elementos lingüisticos y culturales (como palabras, estilos pictóricos y arquitectónicos y filosofía religiosa) que coinciden en culturas de América, Africa, Medio Oriente, Asia e inclusive la alta Europa. Esto lleva a pensar que un origen común no es tan descabellado. Toda cultura rica en historia mitológica narra la destrucción del mundo por una inundación global y de como los sobrevivientes se "embarcaron" en tecnología de punta para salvarse migrando a otras partes del mundo.

Ya se como suena esto. En su momento yo también me sentí un poco mal por pensar en teorias tan radicales, pero considera un momento esto: Hoy el mundo se acaba. De la noche a la mañana se destruye todo rastro de nuestra civilización. Los sobrevivientes serían un puñado de personas en un avión, un barco... hasta en un trasnbordador espacial. Regresan a poblar el desolado panorama... ¿Y qué queda? Una humanidad desde cero, con nada mas que el limitado conocimiento individual para volver a forjar grandes naciones. Los niños que nazcan o crescan en ese mundo, ¿Qué historias oirán? ¿Sobre hombres en la luna, bajo el mar, moviendose a la velocidad del sonido, hablando de genes y química, curando enfermedades con un simple frasco... construyendo torres que llegan hasta el cielo? Para mi, eso suena a cualquier mitología relacionada a cualquier dios. ¿Podrían nuestros dioses ser nosotros mismo en una época pasada, parcialmente olvidada debido a un cataclismo? Yo digo que muy posiblemente y este es un tema que me propongo estudiar y analisar poco a poco, subiendo mis conclusiones y fuentes a este blog... ya que realmente hay mucha tela de donde cortar...

Mars had water

In a sort of official announcemet, NASA scientist have declared that there's evidence that at least one third of martian soil was once an ocean bottom.

This is being a subject long ago discussed, that really came to attention when the Mars' Rovers got to analyse real martian ground samples. But the fact that make this scientist turn to this conclution is that there are visible shorelines near the ecuator. But this massive oceans (it's believed that there were at least to of them) weren't just near the ecuator. Some research has brought the idea that this oceans were visible like a billion years ago, so, the planet has deformed because of it's gravity force making his cliffs and shorelines more "edgy" near the poles.

This have kindda sense. Now the question turns to "where's all that water?" for that amount of water is unlikely to have vapored into space and if it is inside the planet, the density scans on that planet should've told us already that it is there.

A big step, no doubt, for understanding how that planet became what it is today means we can try not to take our little planet to the same level... just imagine, what if Mars' water didn't dry... what if someone took it all... waste it, burned it...

A new Cold War?

The G-8 in now in Germany. The main subject to discuss is the Global Warming, but it seems that Mr. Bush is (once again) far more interested in war. During this sessions, Rusia (being a "guest" among the other 8) has declared that they are not pleased at all with US placing missiles on European ground, specially so close to them. This "Missile Shield" US is setting, serves as a defence againts a possible middle east attack, specially since Iran has not yet granted access to the UN to check their Nuclear Weapons Program. But we all know missiles didn't born like a defensive system, and that's why russiand are all freaked out.

So, as a result, Russia has now announced that they'll set another defense system, and China is following them. This actions have just brought back the felling of a Cold War. I mean, the US sets a defense system, Russia and China do the same, now US have to respond to it with a better "anti-defense" system... and so on.
Bush is playing nice now, saying Mr. Putin is actually and allied and that this tension is only because of a difference between the two countries. Wish I could hear Putin's words abou that, specially since the Anti-USA felling has been growing in Asia and Europe.

Once again, it's a shame that we might very well be facing the end of mankind as we know it because of Global Warming, and our leaders are finding way to stab each other on the back.
Fuck pollitics.

Celulas Madre como tratamiento para la Ceguera

Un grupo de científicos ingleses, planea realizar la primer implantación de celulas embrionarias en un ojo humano para rehabilitar las funciones visuales. La enfermedad degenerativa AMD produce una "capa" sobre las celulas que reciben la información luminosa, por lo cual la visión se reduce. Esta enfermedad aqueja principalmente a personas mayores y el proposito de esta operación es logar un procedimiento cotidiano en el cual en un máximo de 45 minutos y con anestesia local se pueda devolver la vista.

Planetary Night

Last night, as I was arriving home, I remembered that the moon was full that night. I searched for her and when I found it I saw there was a planet beside her. Thought it was Venus, but I remembered that Venus did "stood" by the moon but on may 20th... so it couldn't be. As I arrived, I spotted Venus, very big and bright, to the west... therefore, the other planet got to be Jupiter... Saturn being in luck.

I ran up stairs and talked by dad to get the telescope and find out. We first locked Venus, for it was getting pretty close (and fast) to the horizon. Being honest, our telescope ain't much of a thing... (but it does have a telescope/cpu interaction... with some software I haven't even loaded... :P) so fixxing on a planet is really hard, but last night I did. After chasing Venus for a while, I locked it with the weakest of our lenses and little by little I switched to the biggest of them. Fot the first time, I got to se craters on Venus surface. It looks kind like the moon, but blueish... and far more death. The funny thing was that being too close to Earth, it really move too fast.

Once we saw Venus, we radically change the view to the East-Southeast where the so far Unknown planet and the Moon were.
Well, if Venus was hard too spot.. this planet really made it almost impossible. But after almos 15 minutes (which in sky observation is a lifetime) I got to lock it. One bright planet and four gorgeously aligned moons. Jupiter.... quite and spectacle. Seeing this so far away planet, as if it where a half moon... with those tiny half moon around it. Perfectly aligned, in 45° counter clockwise from the planet.

As it was late, we decided we would just take a glanze of the moon... And I must say that for me, there's nothing more peaceful that seeing this gorgeous being in a telescope... each sea... each crater... I even focused a specific crater, so I could see the details within it.

I feel kindda weird still... it's an expirience that feels so right, so natural...

Entrando temas mas turbios... Radio Caracas, la mas importante televisora de Venezuela (Equivalente localmente a Televisa en las decadas pasadas) tuvo que dar por terminada su señal debido a que el buen señor Hugo Chavez tuvo la cosquillita de que le estorbaba en sus planes.

"La única manera en Radio Caracas siga al aire después de la media noche del 27 de Mayo, es que Hugo Chavez yano sea el presidente de Venezuela"

... Valiente dialogo, valiente democracia, valiente pluralidad. A decir verdad, yo apoyaba a Hugo Chavez en sus inicios, llevaba la bandera de que si bien el socialismo tiene muchos defectos, tal vez no era tan mala idea probar con algo mas que no fuera lo establecido. Pero tristemente, me equivoqué. Resultó ser que este hombre se ha dedicado a fortalecer su imagen de Fidel Castro 2, a cumplir su sueño de estar en el funeral de Fidel y tomar su puesto como la punta de lanza contra el "Imperialismo Yankee". ¿Pero que ha sido este socialismo? Expropiaciones de plantas petroleras, de tierras para cultivo, de primogénitos (¡es cierto!) y ahora de emisoras de televisión.

"Ha perdido reconocimiento internacional y ahora el respeto de su gente tambien"- gritaba una multitud afuera de la emisora, mientras el presidente de la misma señalaba este acto como "Un paso hacia el totalitarismo".

La verdad es que este movimiento es tan estratégico que resulta obvio. La primer manera de frenar un posible levantamiento en contra de un régimen es detener y controlar a favor los medios de comunicación. Ahora, la gente de venezuela solo verá lo que Hugo Chavez quiera que sea visto en su nueva señal que inició funciones a primera hora del lunes 28. Tal vez, solo tal vez, Hugo Chavez espera que su gente se harte y lo quemen con todo y su socialismo, ya que el señor no se ha dado cuenta de que Venezuela no es Cuba. No es una isla donde puede perfectamente mantener a su gente aislada. No se ha dado cuenta de que el pueblo venezolano no es tan pasivo y que bien que mal es un pueblo que ya sabe que no tiene porque ser como Hugo Chavez lo dice.

4D Image in Hospitals?

A canadian enterprise has developed for six years a new kind of medical scan, which is in fact a 3D volumetric image of a human body, which can be seen form any angle and can be tear in layers in order to see all the organs, muscles, bones, etc. of the body. To begin with, this ain't (it can't be) a 4D image, for our senses can't persive more than three, but this "smart ass" developers say it is 4D because of it's ability to show you different "times" in the model. This means, you can see what you looked like two weeks ago and how you look now... shitty isn't it... but any way... the main point of this model, is that looking it through some special 3D lenses, you can actually persive the depth of it, as if it where standing right in front of you. Something like Final Fantasy: Spirit Within machine that is used to locate alien live within the body of the characters... which is really close.

The system is great, it allows medical staff to practice before an operation, or to layer out parts of the brain to study it without having to wait for a corpse to arrive. The only bad thing is the name... beyond that, I think is a great breakthrough invention, which in time surely will be available in every hospital (right now, there's only one). See the note here

Water on Mars

It's quite public now that there was fluid water on planet Mars. But now, by accident (as most scientific discoveries occour...) the Rover Spirit (whose mission ended up about 3 years ago, but is still going) having a malfuntion on one of her wheels, dragged some dirt and discovered an under layer of dirt which after x-ray analize, turned out to be Silica, a chemical component that gives shape to our Quartz and to our mirrors, and that needs water for it's formation.
